Royal Flora Expo

Thailand did it again. The Royal Flora Rachphreuk Expo was held on land stolen from a forest reserve, about a Kilometre or so from our home. It ran from 1st November until 31st January.
With typicat Thai thoroughness of planning they messed up almost everything, even having to send letters to local residents asking them not to use water. (The smell around here is somewhat awful now!)
Our pond was sucked down to its lowest level ever by mid December and is currently almost dry. The garden is brown and different shades of bare, cracked earth.
We pray for rain. There has been not a single drop since October.

The exhibition itself was just about okay in parts, although it was slammed by much of the press. The first time I visited, most of the flowers were wilted and dying.

I adore these staghorn ferns. Just wish we had a tree capable of supporting one.

There were several displays by garden designers in the Orchid section. This was by far the best section of the entire site.

Thus particular spray was the overall gold medal winner. It stood well over a metre in height.

We went about three times. This was almost the last day of Patrick & Elizabeth's holiday.
